PEEK, PTFE, and Polycarbonate: Three Plastics for Demanding Jobs

A quick guide to three very different materials often used when commodity plastics are not enough.

PEEK is the premium choice when heat, strength, chemical resistance, and dimensional stability must work together. It is expensive, so design and material yield deserve careful attention before production.

PTFE solves low-friction and chemical-resistance problems that many other plastics cannot handle. It is excellent for seals, gaskets, liners, and insulating parts, but creep and tolerance behavior must be considered.

Polycarbonate is the impact-resistant clear material many buyers choose for guards, windows, covers, and shields. It is tougher than acrylic but may need coatings or grade review for scratching, UV exposure, or chemical contact.

The right choice depends on the failure mode you are trying to prevent. Share the application details with your supplier before locking the resin.
