What to Send With a CNC Plastic Machining RFQ
The files and details that help suppliers quote faster and reduce back-and-forth.
A complete RFQ helps the supplier quote quickly and recommend a practical manufacturing route. The best starting package is a 2D drawing, a 3D model when available, the material or use environment, quantity, and required lead time.
If the material is not fixed, describe the job the part must do. Load, wear, chemicals, temperature, color, food contact, electrical behavior, and cosmetic expectations all influence the material choice.
Tolerance should be tied to function. Plastic expands, creeps, absorbs moisture, and behaves differently from aluminum or steel, so blanket tight tolerances can add cost without improving the part.
Finishing details matter as well. Include edge breaks, threads, inserts, polish level, protective film, labeling, bagging, kitting, and inspection needs when they affect fit or delivery.
